Joe’s Ice Cream has been made in Swansea since 1922, using the vanilla recipe created by Joe Cascarini and still made by later generations of the family. Fresh vanilla is churned daily for the parlours, while a separate frozen recipe based on the same family formula is used for a wider flavour range sold in tubs. Ice cream cakes also sit alongside the main line, with vanilla ice cream remaining central to a family business that has kept Italian-style ice cream making in Wales for more than a century.
